Mary Boone gallery will present AI WEI WEI's sunflower seeds in early Jan 2012. Millions of porcelain sunflower seeds were meticulously hand painted and will be shown en masse. These images are from the Tate Modern.  Each seed is unique yet seen collectively it becomes the same - so chinese. 

I love to chomp on sunflower seeds! Can't wait to check out the show.

WALL STREET PROTEST

I haven't blogged in a while but I was inspired by all the protesters on Wall st. to post again. Very disappointed that the mainstream media is too scared to do a major report on this - they are all on the payroll. Some may say protesting doesn't bring results but it definitely brings awareness to the issues. If you are in NYC go check it out and show some support - buy the campers coffee, lunch etc. I hope the cops are not going to go crazy and beat the people - sadly if it happens keep the cameras rolling... Time to wake up. Refuse to be stepped on, used and discarded by the corporations.

WEST MEMPHIS THREE - FINALLY FREE!!

So amazing - they are finally free after 18 years! In exchange for their freedom the state of Arkansas made them admit to the crimes that they did NOT commit - so fucked up.  Still awesome that they are free! I remember when they were framed for the murder just because they liked Metallica and Damien was a bit goth. I was so mad- it was so obvious that they were innocent. If you haven't seen the documentary , go check it out.  They interview a few people in the doc that are related to the deceased who seem more like the prime suspect but everyone was too concerned about just putting these kids behind bars because they looked a certain way - i.e. goth/metal.  The south is a scary place....

LEON BOTHA RIP

Leon Botha was an talented artist, DJ and was the oldest documented person living with progeria. He passed away the day after his 26th birthday on Jun 5th.  Leon has collaborated with Die Antwoord, appeared in films and had a gallery show of his own works. Leon is an inspiration and will be missed.

I love Montauk. Maybe its something about being at the end of the island -  the whole place has a certain feel of nostalgia. Also I like it that it doesn't have any chain shops (i.e.starbucks etc.). 

Check out Montauk in the off season too, super amazing!

Because its finally sunny in NYC and circa 1960's Alain Delon is so sexy.  I watched this film with my dad when I was a kid in Japan on t.v. Every sunday was classic movie night.  Even as a elementary school kid I knew this film was cool and immediately fell in love with Alain Delon.

Because its friday and I like the CORNHOLIO! They return to MTV in June, can't stop watching.... I think I need to go read a book soon or else my brain will shut down. JOHN WAYNE GACY EXHIBITION

John Wayne Gacy aka Killer Clown, aka Pogo the Clown - serial killer. He had raped and murdered 33 boys/men between 1972 - 1978 and hid the bodies in and around his home. He was later caught and executed. The paintings were completed during his incarceration and is for sale at the ARTS FACTORY gallery in Las Vegas. The proceeds will go to a non profit organization. As of now, many non profit organizations have declined to be part of this charity event. The works start at about $4000 -$4500.
